Mobile Phone Technology and Its Future

A mobile phone, mobile or telephone, sometimes shortened to just mobile phone or cell phone and sometimes called by other names, is a small portable phone that will make and receive telephone calls on a radio frequency line while the user is traveling within a phone service area. In some cases the area may include only one or two wireless phone service providers, in other cases the area may be very large. There are essentially three types of mobile phones: landline models, which are sold directly to homes; cell phones that can only be used with a mobile phone service provider; and handheld phones that are designed to be carried “hand in hand” with the owner. While each type has some distinct advantages, there are also some disadvantages to consider.

Landline Mobile Phone Systems operates on one main circuit. The circuits are built in close proximity to the residence or business and use a low but very high bandwidth transmission power, which limits the amount of power that can be transmitted. As a result, the signal can be interrupted even at the far ends of the circuits. For this reason, the power used by a typical landline system is quite low. As a result, these systems use a small amount of power, but must be kept on and capable of working when there is no signal.

Cellular Mobile Phone Systems operates much like a home telephone system, except that there are no landlines to maintain or wires to run through walls and under floors. The circuits are placed in different areas of the building, usually in a basement or garage. These systems transmit their signals by using a transmitter and receiver that are mounted in a hand form. Because the signal is transmitted through a one-way connection, it is not affected by interference from other wireless devices in the area and because the transmission is through a much greater distance, the signal strength is also higher. A cell phone user uses a one-vote system whereby each caller uses one cell phone to dial into the system. In the event of a disturbance, all calls made by the phone to this number are dropped and the users are prompted to dial into a one-vote landline number.

Global Positioning Systems, otherwise known as GPS, is another feature that some cellular and cordless phones offer. A Global Positioning System is an external GPS unit that can be used in conjunction with a Mobile Phone System to determine latitude and longitude. A Mobile Phone that has a GPS feature will offer the ability to find a person quickly and easily. In addition, GPS systems can offer information about restaurants, parks, gas stations and other points of interest.

Some Mobile Phone Service Providers offers a Mobile Phone Directory that includes information about every Mobile Phone Number in an area. In the case of the reverse look up, the first step is to enter the cell phone number in a search field, and then the results will be displayed immediately. These types of services are typically offered by most Mobile Phone Service Providers. The ability to find a person easily using a Mobile Phone is made possible by the introduction of a new type of technology known as Cell Number Look Up, also known as Cell Search or Reverse Phone Lookup.

The new Mobile Phone Design incorporates a high-tech system based on high-speed radio frequency technology called phased-array technology. With this type of technology, the Mobile Phone is able to communicate with a station located approximately twenty-five miles away and communicate continuously even if the user’s signal is weak or no longer. Phased-array antennas transmit their radio frequency energy via a unique phased pattern which enables them to connect with a station thousands of miles away.
